Gary Bogli, longtime CFFA member and fly fisherman extraordinaire will speak about his once in a lifetime trip to experience the ultimate in Salmon fly fishing on Alaska’s Kanektok River System. If you have ever dreamed of catching 100 fish in a day, you don’t want to miss this tale about reeling in many species of salmonids from Dolly Vardens to Silvers and Coho’s. Gary is a retired teacher and has been fishing since his mom taught him how to use a drop line growing up in Manchester, CT. A member of CFFA since 1972, he has been a leader and mentor for too many members to count in his 45 years with CFFA. At 81, he fishes several times a week in CT and Rhode Island. Gary’s boundless energy is seen in the way he supports CFFA activities from helping Scouts to earn their fly fishing merit badge, conducting fly tying demos at CFFA meetings and participating in CFFA’s fly fishing instructional programs. In between these activities he finds time to work with young people as a volunteer with the DEEP’s “Salmon in the Schools Program.
